1970Dec 10Keel laid down by the Ingalls Shipbuilding Co., Pascagoula, MS.
1973Jan 13Launched.
1974Aug 17Commissioned with CDR. Richard N. Charles in command. Parche served as a unit of SubLant until 1976 before transferring to the Pacific Fleet. Once arriving at her new homeport at Mare Island, CA., Parche received ocean engineering modifications.
1987Jan 1From 1987 to 1991, Parche began the extended overhaul at Mare Island Naval Shipyard that refueled her and modified her for research and development. A 100 foot long extension was added to her hull just forward of her sail.
 Jan 1(Cont'd.) The section was flat topped and provided space required for a larger crew and additional equipment. The additions included an extensive array of signalscollecting antennas, electronic gear and other navigational and ocean engineering equipment.
 Jan 1(Cont'd.) The overhaul added many auxiliary navigational and maneuvering features, including both upward and forward facing short range sonars, and a suite of armored spotlights and closed circuit television cameras for under ice operations.
1992Jan 1Upon completion of her modifications, Parche began a new mission as part of Submarine Development Squadron 5. Parche resumed Pacific Fleet operations.
1994Nov 1Parche was transferred to her new homeport at the Naval Submarine Base, Bangor, WA.
2004Oct 20Decommissioned at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, WA.
