| Nov 7 | T. Edison loaded Polaris missiles at Charleston, SC., and embarked upon her first deterrent patrol. She concluded that patrol at the base at Holy Loch, Scotland, whence she operated for the next 4 years and 17 deterrent patrols. |
1966 | Sep 1 | Edison's official home port was changed from New London, CT. to Charleston, SC., in preparation for her first major overhaul. |

1968 | May 9 | T. Edison completed overhaul. |
| Sep 22 | T. Edison embarked on her 18th patrol. After a shortened 19th patrol she conducted a "Follow On Target" or "FOT" test launch of four randomly selected missiles. |
| Sep 22 | (Cont'd.) Edison then proceeded to a location just off the Canary Islands, and fired these missiles into the Caribbean. Due to the accuracy and timeliness of this successful launch, the members of that Blue Crew were awarded a Meritorious Unit Citation. |
1973 | Jul 11 | T. Edison transferred to the Pacific Fleet. |
| Aug 6 | T. Edison commenced overhaul at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Vallejo, CA. |
1974 | Nov 30 | T. Edison completed overhaul. |
1975 | Mar 1 | T. Edison transited the Panama Canal to fire test missile off Cape Canaveral, FL. |
| Aug 8 | T. Edison retransited the Panama Canal and carried out operations along the West Coast until December at which time she headed for her new home port, Guam, Marianas Island.

1983 | Dec 1 | T. Edison was decommissioned. |
1986 | Apr 30 | T. Edison was struck from the Naval Register. |
1996 | Oct 1 | T. Edison went through the Navy's Nuclear Powered Ship and Submarine Recycling Program at the Puget Sound Naval Shupyard, Bremerton, WA., beginning on 1 October 1996 and on 1 December 1997 ceased to exist.
