Description
A tribute was paid to American submariners at a ceremony Saturday, March 5, at 10:00 a.m. at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, California. The California Submarine Veterans of World War II and U.S. Submarine Veterans, Inc., District 10 dedicated 65 Mondell pine trees and a monument to honor the sixty-five submarines and crewmembers that have been lost since the organization of the U.S. Navy Submarine Service on April 11, 1900. From San Jose Airport, drive south on 101 then East on State Route 152 (toward Los Banos). As you drive over Pacheco Pass go left on State Highway 33. Drive about three and a half miles on Highway 33 then turn left on McCabe Road. Travel four miles. The cemetery will be at the end of the road.
