Just north of the Torpedo Factory art complex in Alexandria, Virginia (N38 degrees 48 minutes 20.7 seconds-west 77 degrees 02 minutes 19.1 seconds), where a city park occupies the West bank of the Potomac River, a submarine propeller is mounted on a stone base under a willow tree at the water's edge.
The propeller had been there for years with no marker. Recently the City of Alexandria and Sub Vets of WW11 put up a bronze marker on the base of the propeller and held a Dedication Ceremony. Both the screw and cap piece are clearly marked for the POMPON.
