“The Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery, USS CORVINA (SS-226) Memorial in Fernley, NV, was initially dedicated in 1996. The US Submarine Veterans of WWII, Las Vegas Chapter, donated two bronze plaques on which the names of the CORVINA crew are listed; and a bronze plaque stating that the memorial is in honor of the USS CORVINA. The United States Submarine Veterans, Inc. (USSVI), Mare Island Base, donated a marble plaque with the USSVI Creed engraved on it. The USSVI, Corvina Base (Reno), incorporated these original plaques in a complete overhaul/ upgrade of the memorial in 2006. It included a new concrete slab, repainting of the torpedo, landscaping, and several new features. Financing was made possible by the Corvina Base, and several local businesses donating materials. It was re-dedicated with a ceremony on 16 November 2006, on the 63rd anniversary of the loss of the CORVINA. The US Submarine Veterans of WWII assigned the USS CORVINA (SS-226) to the State of Nevada.”
