Description
Arnold Jerome Cook MOM2(SS) went down with his ship the USS Herring on June 1, 1944. The Herring was sunk by gunfire from shore batteries near Point Tagan, Matsuwa Island, Kuriles. All 84 men were lost. His memorial stone shows a date of Jan 12, 1946. Arnold was entitled to wear the Purple Heart. His service number was 300-82-67.
