Walter Amburn Benson, Seaman, First Class was born on June 26,1920. He was from Charlotte, Michigan. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was killed while serving on the USS Sealion SS-194, by a bomb that also hit the Sealion both boats being at the time in the Cavite Navy Yard, in the Philippine Islands.
