Description
The memorial was dedicated in a solemn ceremony on May 26, 2001. Over 300 people were in attendance, including Phil Katz, the brother of EM2 A. J. Katz who was aboard USS Kete when it was lost. A featured speaker was Captain Murray Frazee, retired submariner and recipient of three Silver Stars. Frazee spoke of his service with LCDR Akerman aboard Kete prior to leaving to serve as executive officer of USS Tang. This memorial also lists all 52 boats lost in WW11.
