On the way to the USS Drum are three memorial stones. The one on the right is in memory of all Submarine Lookouts "The Eyes Of The WWII Submarine To it's left are a stone for Cdr. Howard Gilmore and to it's left is a stone for the USS Herring SS-233, the WWII Submarine asigned to the State of Alabama.
